marketing on the internet

April 4th, 2008 · No Comments

We have been talking a lot lately about the marketing ecosystem online as opposed to in the real world.

Marketers are responsible for locating a target audience and messaging them in favor of a client or cause. Great marketing programs encompass many weapons, mediums, and channels that fit nicely into the daily lives of the desired audience.

Marketing on the Internet should be looked at in the same way.

Two facts: The Internet is more than a website, and, users travel around the web, much like they travel throughout the day in their physical lives.

To create the right online marketing ecosystem you need to use the right channels: Social, Search, Video, Banner, Content, etc, etc; there are a lot of them; as well as the sub-channels and options within each.

Multi-channel marketing through the Internet: Interesting?

Many online marketers have this down for very large Brands and entertainment properties. However, in our research, very few companies use the Internet for much more than a website and an email database.

All this is changing of course, new learning is incessant; the Internet as a medium is forever evolving, and will eventually become all encompassing.

Its nothing to worry about, its just change, and most times, change is good.
